Biography Sharon Moody was born in Florida and grew up in North Carolina, where she received a B.A. in Fine Art from Appalachician State University, studying printmaking and drawing with Bill Dunlap and Noyes Long. The physical beauty of her surrourndings in the mountains of North Carolina led her primarily to landscape imagery at that time. When subsequently residing in New Jersey she executed a series of photorealistic paintings of older downtown exurbs. Exhibiting her drawings and paintings in N.J. and N.Y led to a Fellowship in Painting from the New Jersey Council of the Arts, a branch of the NEA. She also began still life work at that time, including monumental shaped canvases of floral imagery. After relocating to Washington, D.C., she resumed her studies at George Washington University, where she was the Morris Louis Fellow, studying painting with William Woodward and drawing with Frank Wright, and received an M.F.A. in Painting, Her technical training at GWU included studying the methods and materials of painting throughout the history of art. She also copied masterworks at a Washington, D.C. museum, which subsequently influenenced her work; an appreciation of the history of art informs her current paintings. Most recent works are of still life and trompe l'oeil compositions; she also produces figurative works. She has exhibited her work in numerous exhibitions for two decades and has been employed as a graphic designer, art consultant and teacher.
